Frequently Asked Questions
What is Protex Paint Protection?
Protex Paint Protection is a urethane based material, usually about 8 thousands of an inch thick (8Mil), that can be placed on painted or smooth surfaces of your vehicle to protect it from the elements.
Where can Protex Paint Protection be installed?
Generally speaking, the high-impact areas of your vehicle (hood, fenders, mirrors, bumper or any other forward facing areas) are the most important to cover. However, the sky is the limit and your entire vehicle can be wrapped in our material. Imagine driving a new car every day...
What type of vehicle is Paint Protection Film (PPF) made for?
XPEL Paint Protection films are the industry's leading materials. This makes them perfect for any application, from your every day commuter to your weekend sports car or motorcycle. No matter the vehicle, Protex offers the perfect protection.
What do you mean by 'self-healing'?
Our Paint Protection Films use a special polymer in its clear coat that flows even though it is cured. This allows the clear coat to find its natural level again after being disturbed on the surface. Thus, light scratches and swirls will dissipate with warmth and time.
Can I wax or polish the material?
Unlike most other paint protection films, XPEL ULTIMATE PLUS Paint Protection can be polished, waxed or sealed just like the paint on your car. Think of it like a second clear coat.
Can it be applied to my headlights and fog lights?
XPEL Paint Protection is very resistant to heat, therefore it is a great material to protect areas like this. Protex is warrantied not to burn, discolour or peel regardless of the lens or bulb type in your headlights or fog lights. If there should be an exception, your technician could advize on specific issues on certain make/models.
